“For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for My sake and the gospel’s the same shall save it “ (Mark 8:35 KJV). Over the last four years, I have seen how true this is in my life on a much smaller scale.

Over four years ago, I was a full time musician with nothing in mind but the fine arts and playing music for the rest of my life, preferably piano but really, any instrument would do. I said I was doing it for God, and I tried my best to be doing it for Him from the heart, but it was still a very selfish life I lived.

In the spring of 2014, by what I now consider, one of God’s greatest acts of grace in my life, my music was taken from me. My wrists began to hurt, and there was nothing anyone could do. It was the way my hands were and I was just going to have to get used to that. No longer able to play without pain, God took me down a path the lead me to Bible College, where I joined a drama team, learned about ministry, realized how my heart had been all wrong, and completely surrendered my music to God. Through the summers, I started pursuing more fine arts that were not directly related to music. I began to act more and write short skits.

By early June of this year, I realized that if I had not had my music taken, and given it up completely to God, I would not be doing what I am right now. When I held on to my music, I lost it. But when I gave it all to Him, He has given me so much in such great abundance; I am humbled and overwhelmed by His great grace.

Having met ACTION Ventures for the very first time my first year of College, and having been enthralled with them and what they did then, I have desired to go on a missions trip with them ever since. Four years later I finally have that opportunity, and I am so excited about it!

During my second year at Bible College, I felt God calling me to be prepared to give up my life, hopes and dreams, family, and everything else I wanted to hold on to, for His sake. Not that He would necessarily require that of me, but that I was willing. He impressed it on my heart that I should go into missions of some sort, somewhere.

Through ACTION Ventures, after four years of Bible College, I now have the opportunity to do both, go on a mission’s trip, and to learn more and grow in the area of fine arts. It is a dream come true and an answer to prayer. I now get to learn about using the fine arts in ministry, and I get to go overseas to Uganda and the U.K. respectively to use what I have learned. I’ll be gone for a total of nine months from Sept. 4 –June 2, including the beginning of training to the end of debrief and many miles will be made in both Canada and overseas, so I covet your prayers. Thank you to all of you for your support, both financially and through prayer!
